Dr. Matthew A Masucci serves as Associate Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences and Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at San José State University, where he has been a faculty member since 2002. He previously chaired the Department of Kinesiology from 2014-2018 and contributes to university-wide initiatives in curriculum development, accreditation, and student success programs.

His research spans Mixed Martial Arts analysis, doping practices among elite triathletes, athlete use of marijuana/CBD for pain management, cycling culture narratives (including Lance Armstrong representations), environmental connections to exercise settings, and social movements like the San José Bike Party.
He has secured grant funding for research on doping knowledge sources among elite female triathletes and collaborates across disciplines while teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in kinesiology. His professional engagement includes active membership in the American Kinesiology Association and North American Society for the Sociology of Sport.
