Fergus Guppy is an Associate Professor at Heriot-Watt University's School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society. He is a founding member of Sport Rχiv, the first dedicated pre-print server in Sport and Exercise Science, and co-founded STORK (Society for Transparency, Openness, and Replication in Kinesiology), promoting methodological rigor in movement science. His research focuses on interventions to improve public health and elite athlete performance, with particular emphasis on musculoskeletal physiology, wearable technology, and inclusion in sports.
Key areas of research include core body temperature monitoring in endurance athletes, transgender athlete eligibility criteria, and the integration of wearable sensors in elite sport.
