Matteo Pavese

Matteo Pavese is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT) at the Polytechnic University of Turin. He is a member of the Interdepartmental Center IAM@PoliTo - Integrated Additive Manufacturing, actively contributing to research in advanced materials. His academic roles span teaching and research leadership across multiple programs and laboratories within DISAT.

His research focuses on composite materials, cement-based materials, additive manufacturing, thermal storage, and recycling. These interests are aligned with key scientific sectors including materials characterization, carbon and composite engineering, and novel hybrid materials. His work supports sustainable innovation in construction and industrial applications.

The recent publications highlight a strong trend in sustainable materials engineering, particularly in recycling waste (e.g., tire rubber) into construction materials, developing low-carbon cementitious composites, and advancing thermal storage solutions. His work in additive manufacturing includes metal 3D printing and novel composite synthesis, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach bridging materials science, energy, and environmental engineering.

He has supervised several PhD students and is involved in major research projects funded by the EU and regional programs. His contributions extend to industrial collaborations, including patents in composite fabrication and graphene oxide production.

His teaching spans doctoral, master’s, and bachelor’s levels, covering topics such as X-ray diffraction, functional materials, energy applications of materials, and materials for construction. He is also involved in innovative educational initiatives like Challenge@PoliTo.

He leads or participates in multiple research teams including Additive Manufacturing, Ceramic Materials, Construction and Building Materials, Materials for High Temperatures and Nanocomposites, and Metallic Materials. These teams operate within DISAT’s laboratories such as the BurnerRig Laboratory, Laboratory of Thermal Analysis, Metallographic Preparation Laboratory, and TapeCasting Laboratory.
