معرفی
Federico Simone Gobber is a Fixed-term tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Science and Technology (DISAT) at the Polytechnic University of Turin, where he serves as an invited member of the College of Chemical and Materials Engineering. He is also affiliated with the Interdepartmental Center IAM@PoliTo (Integrated Additive Manufacturing), contributing to research aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
His research focuses on metallurgical processes including gas atomization, powder metallurgy, surface treatments, and tool steel engineering. This work falls under the scientific disciplinary sector IIND-03/C (Metallurgy) and ERC sector PE11_2 (Engineering of metals and alloys), emphasizing sustainable materials processing and characterization techniques.
Gobber's recent publications (2024-2025) reveal a concentrated effort in additive manufacturing technologies, particularly directed energy deposition for tool steels and laser powder bed fusion for copper alloys. His work also explores sustainable powder production from waste materials and friction/wear characterization in metal forming processes, demonstrating strong industry-relevant applications.
He operates within DISAT's laboratory network including the Powder Metallurgy Laboratory, Mechanical Characterization Laboratory, Microscopy and Surface Analysis Laboratory, and Heat Treatment Laboratory 2. These facilities support his experimental work in materials processing, characterization, and surface engineering.
