Dr. Matt Warren is a Lecturer in Creative Arts and Media at the University of Tasmania's School of Creative Arts and Media. Based in Hobart, Tasmania, he teaches Sculpture & Time Based Media, Critical Practices, and Media Units while coordinating key courses. His practice spans immersive electronic installations, video, and sound works exploring themes of memory, transcendence, liminal spaces, and hauntology. Warren also collaborates with the Unconscious Collective on major projects for MONA FOMA, Dark MOFO, and public art installations.

His research focuses on immersive environments blending sound and visual art, with recent exhibitions including Cluster (2025) and Spheres, scapes and the grain of formative hauntings (2024). Notable collaborations include residencies with Jean-Yves Thériault (Montreal) and Damo Suzuki (Köln), plus contributions to festivals like Dark MOFO and M*Sync. His sound works include albums No(n)Sense (2024) and Wait (2024).

Advising includes BFA Honours supervision. He serves on the Art Forum Committee and co-coordinates Research Lab units. His creative work often intersects with industrial soundscapes and digital abstraction, reflecting ongoing exploration of liminal artistic spaces.
