Dr. Toby Juliff is a Lecturer in Art at the University of Tasmania, based in the School of Creative Arts and Media within the College of Arts, Law and Education. His research bridges art history, theory, and practice, focusing on decolonial studies, human-animal relations, and interdisciplinary art-science collaboration. Notably, he co-leads the OktoLab project exploring cephalopod aesthetics and curates exhibitions addressing global cultural and environmental themes.
Teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate courses in fine art and humanities, emphasizing history, theory, and digital humanities. Supervision includes completed PhDs like Einfühlung and Association: Landscape painting in nineteenth century Van Diemen's Land/Tasmania and current projects on ecological and island studies.
