Matt Wang is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. His work focuses on scaling computer science education to be more accessible, equitable, and inclusive, with emphasis on infrastructure for accessible teaching, targeted student support in introductory programming, and open-source software/content development.
- Education: B.S. and M.S. degrees from University of California, Los Angeles.
Research interests include systems for accessible education, pedagogical interventions in early computing courses, and open-source contributions to educational tools. He actively collaborates with the UW CSE accessibility committee and maintains projects like Just the Docs. His teaching spans courses such as CSE 12X, CSE 331, and CSE 391, with a focus on inclusive practices.
Scientific honors include the 2024 COM 2 Teaching Award. He has extensive experience in curriculum development, TA mentorship, and student advocacy, having taught audiences ranging from high school to graduate levels over a decade. Current projects include UW in the High School initiatives and co-editing the CACM Education column.
