Matt Schubert

Dr. Matt Schubert is a faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology at California State University San Marcos (CEHHS). As Director of the Metabolism and Applied Physiology Laboratory (MAPL), he investigates metabolic and health impacts of lifestyle interventions, particularly focusing on cannabis use, caffeine effects, and exercise interactions with high-fat meals.

• Co-creator of the global SPACE RIG research group
• Collaborates with Dr. Armenta, Dr. Feairheller, and international experts

His work addresses cardiovascular adaptations, vascular dysfunction, and health inequities, with future plans to explore acute vs. chronic cannabis effects. He teaches graduate courses and mentors students in non-invasive cardiovascular research methods. Outside academia, he enjoys cycling and spending time with his pets.
