Matt Hauske is an Assistant Professor at Purdue University, affiliated with the Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance in the Film and Video Production department. He also holds courtesy appointments as a Cornerstone Assistant Teaching Professor and Rueff School Assistant Teaching Professor.
- Ph.D. in Cinema and Media Studies, University of Chicago (2015)
His research centers on midcentury American cinema, particularly the interplay between Hollywood Westerns and broader cultural trends in material culture, leisure, and politics. He integrates critical theory, psychoanalysis, political economy, settler colonialism, and ecology into his analyses. His teaching experience spans film history, theory, and communication at institutions including the University of Chicago, DePaul University, Loyola University Chicago, and Colby College.
