Mato Ilkić is an Associate Professor at the Department of Archaeology, University of Zadar, teaching courses such as Croatian Danube Region in the Ancient Period, Ancient Shipwrecks and Maritime Routes on the Eastern Adriatic Coast, and Medieval and Early Modern Numismatics. He earned his PhD in 2004 from the University of Zadar with a thesis on Cornacum - the Sotin area and its place in the organization of the southern part of the province of Pannonia, following a Master's degree in 2000 from the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb focused on the Croatian Danube Region in the Iron Age.
