Dr Mathilde Roger is an Associate Professor (Education) in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University. She joined in 2014 as a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, transitioned to teaching roles, and became a full-time Teaching Fellow by 2018. Since 2022, she holds her current rank and leads as Digital Learning Coordinator. In 2024, she began a part-time secondment at the Durham Center for Academic Development (DCAD), supporting HEA Fellowship initiatives.
Her research background spans Animal Cellular Biology, with expertise in stem cell therapy, nanoparticles, and Tissue Engineering (Skin). She now focuses on education scholarship, emphasizing digital tools for inclusive teaching, self-regulated learning, and innovative assessment strategies. Mathilde leads the Feedback Special Interest Group and the Digital Platform workstream of the Graduate Attribute Implementation Project, while editing Durham's SoTL journal Enhancing Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
Her grants include projects on digital assessment, accessibility of online materials, student feedback engagement, and AI in critical thinking. Awards include Senior HEA Fellowship (2022) and the 2021 Teaching & Learning Award for Exceptional Contribution.
