معرفی
Mathilde Hagens is an Assistant Professor in Soil Chemistry and Chemical Soil Quality at Wageningen University & Research. She specializes in carbon sequestration, enhanced mineral weathering, and soil biogeochemistry. Her research focuses on mitigating climate change through soil-based carbon capture, with emphasis on biological and chemical processes. She has co-promoted multiple PhD students studying topics such as soil-carbon feedback mechanisms, earthworm-driven weathering, and synergies between biochar and enhanced weathering.
- Editorial roles: European Journal of Soil Science (2019–2025), Frontiers in Climate (2021–2023)
- Key collaborations: Projects on carbon-negative agriculture, earthworm-mineral interactions, and silicate weathering potential
Research interests include CO2 removal via biogeochemical pathways, alkalinity generation, and sustainable soil management. Her work integrates experimental setups with machine learning to predict climate-soil interactions. She has contributed datasets for studies on sediment cores and mineral weathering efficacy.
