Mathias Hammerl

Mathias Hammerl is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute of Building Construction, Timber Construction and Circular Construction, Department of Landscape, Water and Infrastructure, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU). He holds a doctoral degree in technical natural sciences and is actively engaged in research on advanced structural materials and sustainable construction systems.

Research Interests: His work focuses on structural engineering, particularly the development and testing of innovative concrete systems reinforced with fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP), including carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP). His research spans material-efficient concrete girders, prestressed thin-walled elements, bond behavior of non-metallic reinforcement, and life cycle assessment of alternative reinforcement materials. He integrates experimental testing with numerical modeling to evaluate structural performance and sustainability.

Publication Trends: His recent publications (2021–2025) consistently address high-performance concrete (HPC, UHPC) elements reinforced with FRP, emphasizing material efficiency, structural behavior under bending and prestressing, and environmental impacts.
