Mate Nikola Tokić

Mate Nikola Tokić is a Visiting Professor at Central European University (CEU) across multiple departments: the Department of History, Department of Public Policy, and Undergraduate Studies. His academic work focuses on 20th-century political dynamics, particularly in eastern and southeastern Europe, examining topics such as ethnic nationalism, transnational political violence, and diaspora terrorism. He holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA from the London School of Economics.

Research Interests: Professor Tokić’s expertise spans Cold War Studies, Cultural History, Global History, and the interplay of identity politics within international systems. His recent monograph explores Croatian diaspora terrorism during the Cold War, analyzing radicalization processes among émigré communities.
