Mastoureh Fathi is an academic specializing in Sociology with a focus on intersectionality, migration, gender, and identity. She teaches courses including Sociology of the Family, Introduction to Sociology, and Race, Ethnicity and Migration. Her research explores themes such as migrant belongings, gendered identities in Iran, and Roma minority discourses across Europe.
- Education: BA in English Literature and Language (Allameh Tabatabaei University, 2004), MA in Gender, Sexualities and Ethnic Studies (University of East London, 2006), PhD in Sociology (University of East London, 2011), MSc in Social Research Methods and Statistics (University of Manchester, 2015).
Her research interests center on intersectional approaches to migration, social class, and gender. Notable projects include studies on Afghan women’s homemaking in London and the role of objects in migrant memory. She has led multiple research initiatives such as the 'Home: Exploring Objects and Memory in Homemaking' (2019) and co-authored works on adult caregiving frameworks and Iranian women’s migration narratives.
Fathi contributes to academic governance as Co-convenor of the Citizenship Study Group at the British Sociological Association and serves on the editorial board of Sociological Research Online (2017–2020).
