Massimo Bartolini is a visual arts professor at the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna (referred to as Ababo in course materials) with additional teaching appointments at NABA Milan. Born in Cecina where he continues to live and work, he studied at the B.Buontalenti Technical Institute for Surveyors in Livorno and the BB.AA. Academy in Florence.
Professor Bartolini's research focuses on the intersection of sound and visual worlds, with particular expertise in:
- Sound Art and Acoustic Phenomena
- Performance Art and Kinetic Expression
- Sculptural Interventions in Urban Spaces
- Art Education Methodologies
- Cultural Mediation of Artistic Heritage
His artistic practice spans over three decades with extensive international exhibition history, including multiple Venice Biennales (1999-2013), Documenta 13 in Kassel (2012), and numerous biennales across five continents. His teaching philosophy emphasizes discovering parallel languages to images through voice, sound, and movement experimentation.
