Mashrufah Khatun is an Associate Professor at Bangladesh Agricultural University, currently on study leave while pursuing her PhD at the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University. She holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Agricultural Economics (Finance) from Bangladesh Agricultural University and is supported by the prestigious AGRTP scholarship for her doctoral studies.
Her academic career at Bangladesh Agricultural University includes positions as Associate Professor (2022-present, currently on study leave), Assistant Professor (2015-2022), and Lecturer (2013-2015) in the Department of Agricultural Finance and Banking.
Mashrufah's research focuses on the intersection of agricultural economics and public policy, with particular emphasis on gender dynamics in agriculture. Her current PhD research explores the implications of the feminization of agricultural labor on gender equality and women's well-being in rural Bangladesh under the supervision of Kuntala Lahiri-Dutt. She is also conducting projects on post-harvest loss assessment of tomato and brinjal, and risk and uncertainty assessment in haor farming systems in Bangladesh.
Her extensive publication record demonstrates expertise in agricultural economics, food security, rural development, climate change adaptation, and post-harvest management. Her research spans multiple agricultural commodities including vegetables, mangoes, and rice, with a focus on economic analysis, livelihood assessment, and policy implications.
