María Marta López Alonso

María Marta López Alonso is a Professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, affiliated with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Animal Pathology. Her research focuses on trace elements in livestock, environmental biomonitoring through animal health, and sustainable practices in organic agriculture. She has contributed significantly to reducing antibiotic use in farming through mineral supplementation studies and has explored the role of pets as sentinels for public health threats. With over 45 journal articles and 18 directed theses, her work bridges veterinary science, environmental toxicology, and agricultural sustainability. She is actively involved in academic collaborations, including studies on seaweed-based nutrition and organic dairy farming practices in Spain.
