María Franshaw is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Department of Professional Development for Educators at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. She holds an EdD from Houston Baptist University (2019) and specializes in Mathematics Education, Teacher Education, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Her research focuses on pre-service teacher development, early algebraic reasoning, and community-based mathematics learning. She actively advises the Teacher Education Department and participates in university governance through roles like Faculty Senate membership and Equity Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council work. Dr. Franshaw has received numerous accolades, including repeated nominations for the Early Career Excellence in Teaching Award and the Very Impactful Professors and Staff (VIPS) award for supporting student-athletes. She collaborates with community organizations like Talent Hub and Garden of Eatin' to enhance mathematics education access and equity.
