Maryam Khalid is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of Curriculum and Learning at Macquarie University's Faculty of Arts. She previously led the Bachelor of International Studies program and focuses on integrative education strategies that bridge academia, industry, and global governance. Her work emphasizes building student agency and fostering cross-sectoral collaborations with organizations like UNEP and multinational corporations.
Research Interests: Her interdisciplinary research explores global governance, security dynamics, climate policy, and the intersection of gender/race with international relations. Current projects address climate change mitigation frameworks, liberal international system discourses, and Islamic finance as an alternative risk model post-2008 crisis.
Awards: Recipient of teaching commendations (2014, 2015) and the 2024 Faculty of Arts Educational Leadership Award for AI-enhanced learning initiatives.
Teaching & Projects: Supervises PhD/MRes students and teaches courses on global politics, international relations, human rights law, and cultural studies. Leads projects on Middle East politics, pedagogical innovation, and online curriculum development.
