Maryam Fatemi is a Researcher and Labor Manager at the Psycholinguistics Laboratory of Technical University of Dortmund’s Diversity Studies department within the Department of Cultural Studies. She has been a PhD student under Prof. Barbara Mertins since 2020 and became Labor Manager in August 2024. Her research focuses on linguistic relativity, multilingualism’s cognitive advantages, and grammatical gender effects on conceptualization. She holds an MA in General Linguistics (Tarbiat Modares University, 2012) and a BA in English Translation (Imam Reza University, 2008).
Teaching includes courses on bilingual first language acquisition, psycholinguistics, and gender studies. She actively presents at academic conferences (e.g., LinPin Meet-Up, Biennial of Czech Linguistics) and contributes to multilingualism advocacy via media. Her 2023 publication examines grammatical gender in Indo-European languages, while 2024 work reviews gender’s conceptual influence.
