Mary Watson is an Associate Professor of Inclusive Leadership and Management and Executive Dean Emeritus at The New School's Schools of Public Engagement. She holds a PhD in Organization Studies from Vanderbilt University and has over two decades of experience in higher education leadership. Her work focuses on social justice, community engagement, and equitable education. She co-leads Management at The New School, a university-wide initiative, and has integrated impactful programs like the Impact Entrepreneurship Initiative and the Vera List Center for Art and Politics into academic curricula.

Research Interests: Mary’s scholarship addresses human rights in global contexts, such as her course “Human Rights and Global Fashion,” and leadership in transformative higher education. She is a global advocate for initiatives like the Critical Edge Alliance and Ashoka Changemaker Campus, emphasizing equity and community partnerships.
Future Role: Starting July 2025, she will serve as Associate Provost for Community Engagement, focusing on elevating The New School’s reputation as an equity-driven institution through partnerships and funding.
