Mary Loeffelholz is the Dean of Cornell University’s School of Continuing Education. She holds a PhD from Yale University and degrees from Stanford University (MA and BA). Her academic focus lies in American literature and culture, particularly 19th- and early 20th-century American poetry, feminist criticism, and poetics. She has authored influential works such as *The Value of Emily Dickinson* (2016) and co-edited *The Blackwell Companion to Emily Dickinson* (2008). Her editorial contributions include leading Volume D (1914–1945) of *The Norton Anthology of American Literature*, showcasing her expertise in literary canon formation and historical contextualization. Loeffelholz’s research explores themes of gender, cultural exchange, and textual networks, with notable studies on Dickinson’s intermedial writing and the social lives of poems in 19th-century America. Her work bridges traditional scholarship with digital humanities, as seen in *Networking Dickinson* (2014). She has held administrative roles, including overseeing graduate programs in Literatures in English at Cornell, and contributed to academic governance through committees on general education and classroom policies.
