Dr. Mary Kennedy is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Implementation Science at Edith Cowan University's Nutrition & Health Innovation Research Institute within the School of Medical and Health Sciences. She holds a PhD from Edith Cowan University (2021) and a Master of Science from the United States (2007). Her research focuses on implementation science, exercise oncology, and lifestyle medicine, emphasizing the integration of exercise into oncology care pathways and addressing healthcare equity challenges. She is affiliated with professional organizations such as Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
Her work prioritizes translating research into clinical practice, including evaluating co-located exercise clinics in cancer centers and identifying barriers to exercise integration. Key projects include exploring geographic and socioeconomic disparities in cancer rehabilitation access and developing competency frameworks for exercise oncology professionals. She has contributed to over 30 peer-reviewed articles since 2016, with recent publications addressing policy implications, core competencies, and patient-centered support in oncology care.
