Mary Jane Begin

Mary Jane Begin is a Visiting Associate Professor and Illustration Chair at Hollins University, where she has led graduate programs in children's literature since July 2019. She is also a Senior Critic in the Illustration Department at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), teaching there for over 30 years, and an online instructor for LinkedIn Learning and CreativeLive on topics including color theory, composition, and character development.

Mary Jane Begin’s book Ping Meets Pang has received significant recognition, including the Silver Nautilus Award, Next Generation Indie Book Award, and National Indie Award of Excellence. She has authored multiple award-winning picture books, such as Little Mouse’s Painting and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, many of which have been translated into Chinese.
