Mary Gick

Mary Gick is a retired Associate Professor of Psychology at Carleton University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her research bridges experimental cognitive psychology and health psychology, examining how individual differences (e.g., attachment styles, personality traits) influence health outcomes and medical decision-making.

Notable investigations include: psychological barriers to cervical screening; attachment dimensions in chronic illness adjustment; conscientiousness interactions with health behaviors; and therapeutic effects of singing on respiratory health and quality of life. She developed protocols assessing diaphragmatic breathing/singing interventions for pulmonary function improvement.
