Mary F Mulcahy, MD, is a Professor at Northwestern University, with academic affiliations in Medicine (Hematology and Oncology), Radiology, and Surgery (Organ Transplantation). She is a member of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center. Her research focuses on gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary malignancies, including colon, esophageal, gastric, hepatocellular, pancreatic, and rectal cancers. She leads multiple clinical trials evaluating novel chemotherapy regimens and ctDNA-based treatment strategies, such as the CIRCULATE-NORTH AMERICA trial for colon cancer. Her work integrates radiomics for predicting chemotherapy response and advancing targeted therapies.
Dr. Mulcahy holds the Nora Cooney Marra Compassionate Care Award (2021) and contributes to NCCN panels for colon/rectal/anal and esophageal/gastric cancers. She has co-authored over 232 publications, including recent studies on pancreatic cancer therapy and ctDNA applications. Her clinical trials address high-risk pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors and immunotherapy combinations for neuroendocrine carcinomas.
She earned her MD from UC San Diego (1993), completed residency at Boston University Medical Center, and a fellowship at Northwestern University. Beyond oncology, she co-founded Life Matters Media to improve end-of-life decision-making resources for patients and caregivers.
