Mary Elizabeth Ray is the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. She oversees curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation for the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Her expertise includes pharmacy education, examination design, and student well-being. Dr. Ray holds a BS and PharmD from Duquesne University and completed a pharmacy practice residency at Hamot Medical Center.
Her research focuses on assessment methodologies, curriculum innovation, and student social-emotional health. Notable contributions include work on NAPLEX preparation strategies, DEI initiatives in academia, and early intervention systems for academic success. She has received awards such as the AACP Rufus A. Lyman Award (2024) and multiple Collaborative Publication Awards.
Previously, she served as Director of Experiential Education at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and held faculty roles at Wilkes University. Her career spans clinical practice in internal medicine and long-term care, as well as pharmaceutical industry experience as a Medical Liaison. Dr. Ray actively contributes to professional organizations like the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) and the Iowa Pharmacy Association.
