Professor Mary Campbell is a Professor of Sociology and Director of the Texas Federal Statistical Research Data Center (TXRDC) at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on racial and ethnic identity, inequality, and survey methodologies. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has received prestigious awards, including the 2024 College of Arts & Sciences Faculty Excellence Award and the 2020 Achievements in Climate and Inclusion Award. Her work examines racial identification dynamics, immigration impacts, and the intersection of race with health and policy. Courses taught include Introduction to Sociology, Racial and Ethnic Relations, and professional academic writing.
Her research interests span racialized experiences, phenotypic and accent dimensions of race, and social inequality mechanisms. Notable projects include studying racial identification changes over the life course and exploring how media consumption influences racial residential preferences.
