Mary C. Lacity

Mary C. Lacity is the Distinguished Professor of Information Systems and David D. Glass Endowed Chair at the Sam M. Walton College of Business, University of Arkansas, where she has been a faculty member since 2018. She previously served as Curators' Distinguished Professor at the University of Missouri for over 25 years and has held visiting positions at MIT Sloan School of Management, London School of Economics, Oxford University, and the University of Houston.

Her research focuses on transformative digital technologies, particularly blockchain-enabled solutions, decentralized identity, metaverse applications, ethical uses of technology, and automation in services. She has published over 30 books and 100 journal articles in leading academic and practitioner journals such as Harvard Business Review, MIS Quarterly, and Communications of the ACM.

Dr. Lacity has made significant contributions to the field through her editorial roles as senior editor for MIS Quarterly Executive and contributing editor for the Journal of the British Blockchain Association. Her work reflects a strong commitment to advancing both research and practical applications in information systems.

She has received numerous honors, including the 2024 SEC Faculty Achievement Award and induction into the IAOP Hall of Fame. Additional recognitions include being named a Fellow of the Association of Information Systems and holding the Certified Outsourcing Professional designation.

• Grants & Leadership: Directed the Blockchain Center of Excellence at the University of Arkansas (2018–2023).
• Advising: Served as doctoral thesis faculty adviser at Washington University and has mentored numerous students throughout her career.

Dr. Lacity is actively engaged in global standards development through membership in the Global Standards Mapping Initiative (GSMI) and the Linux Foundation's Trust over IP (ToIP), contributing to the responsible evolution of emerging technologies.
