Mary Biddlecombe is a Senior Lecturer in Choral Studies and Director of the Blair Academy at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music. She oversees the Blair Children’s Chorus, comprising six choirs for students grades 1-12, and teaches music education and choral literature as part of the Blair-to-Peabody teacher education program. Previously, she held 10 years of public school choral direction experience across New York, Georgia, and Florida, and has taught conducting at Belmont University.

Her expertise focuses on children’s voices and middle/secondary choral settings. Choirs under her direction have performed at American Choral Directors Association conventions and collaborated internationally with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra on major works like Mahler symphonies, John Adams’ On the Transmigration of Souls, and Britten’s War Requiem. Recent highlights include a 2021 performance with The War and Treaty on ABC’s Tournament of Roses Celebration.
Biddlecombe is an active adjudicator and clinician, conducting all-state choruses in Alabama and Florida, and presenting at regional honor choirs. In 2022, she will lead the Children’s Choir Clinic at the Montreat Music & Worship Conference.
She resides in Nashville with her husband Tucker Biddlecombe, Director of Choral Activities at Vanderbilt.
