Professor Marvin Wee is part of the Research School of Accounting at the ANU College of Business and Economics, having joined in 2017. He holds a PhD from the University of Western Australia (2006) and previously worked as an Interest Rate and Foreign Exchange Sales Dealer at Bank of Scotland Treasury (2007–2009). His research focuses on capital markets, corporate disclosure practices, market microstructure, and ESG-related issues. He teaches courses in accounting and finance at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Education: BCom (Hons), MFin, PhD in Accounting, CPA certification. Active research interests include IFRS compliance, insider trading dynamics, and the impact of institutional investors. He currently serves as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Accounting and Finance and President (Australia) of the Accounting and Finance Association of Australia and New Zealand (AFAANZ).
Key research trends include exploring the effects of climate-related disclosures, strategic trading behaviors, and the role of financial advisors in M&A deals. His work often bridges theoretical frameworks with practical implications for regulatory policies and corporate governance practices.
Grants and projects include boundary analysis of climate-related risks in financial statements and determinants of overpayment in M&A. He has supervised multiple research students and collaborates extensively on topics like non-GAAP performance measures and the value relevance of earnings disclosures.
