Martinho Lucas Pires is a Guest Professor at NOVA School of Law and a guest lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University since 2017, teaching European Union Law and Regulation of Technology Innovation. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Law from the Portuguese Catholic University and is a doctoral candidate in Law at NOVA School of Law. As Of Counsel at DLA Piper ABBC Advogados, he specializes in financial regulation and serves as a board member for Portugal Fintech Association, overseeing regulatory issues.
His research focuses on human rights due diligence, corporate accountability, private international law, and ESG compliance. He has authored influential studies for the European Commission, International Labour Organization (ILO), and the European Parliament, addressing topics like supply chain regulation, child labor, and corporate liability. His work includes publications in journals such as International & Comparative Law Quarterly and Business and Politics, as well as book chapters on mandatory due diligence legislation and corporate accountability.
Scientific awards include the Prémio eLearning Practitioner (2016) for innovative academic methodologies. Pires contributes to public discourse as an invited speaker in post-graduate courses on Fintech, crypto-actives, and financial regulation, with expertise spanning comparative contract law, international trade, and sustainable corporate governance.
