Martina Piperno is a Researcher at the Department of European, American and Intercultural Studies of Sapienza University of Rome, where she teaches Contemporary Italian Literature. She has previously held positions at the universities of Durham (UK), KU Leuven (Belgium), UCC (Ireland), and Warwick (UK).
Research Interests: Martina specializes in the intersection of Italian literature with classical antiquity, particularly Etruscan and Roman cultural legacies in 20th-century Italian works. Her work also explores posthumanism, ecocriticism, philology, and interdisciplinary approaches to technical-scientific knowledge in literary contexts.
Recent Publications Trends: Martina's recent articles focus on themes such as Leopardi's engagement with pre-Roman cultures, Etruscan representation in literature and film, ethical dimensions of poetry in Giorgio Bassani's work, and cultural memory in regional Italian literature.
