Prof. Dr. Martina Kumlehn is a faculty member at the Faculty of Theology at the University of Rostock, holding the Chair of Religious Education since January 1, 2007. Her academic roles include serving as Spokesperson of the DFG Research Training Group 1887 ("Interpretive Power. Religion and Belief Systems in Interpretive Power Conflicts") from April 2015 to March 2023 and as a Member of the DFG network (GA 740/7-1: "Dimensions of Religious Education-Hermeneutic Research") since July 2021.

Research interests span interdisciplinary intersections of religious education, hermeneutic methodology, interpretive power struggles, and aging studies. Her work addresses pedagogical frameworks for belief systems and conflicts in religious interpretations.
Academic roles and affiliations include leadership in the "Aging of the Individual and Society" (AGIS) department (2007-2020) and teaching/research at the Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Bonn (1998-2005). She completed her theological education at the Georg-August-University Göttingen (1986-1992), followed by teacher training (1996-1998) and state examinations for teaching at grammar schools (1992, 1998).
