Philine Lewek is a visiting professor at the Faculty of Theology, University of Göttingen, where she will conduct research and teach during the upcoming semester. Her academic journey includes studying Protestant theology in Halle/Saale, Beirut, Marburg, and Leipzig, followed by a dissertation in religious studies titled "New Right Political Theologies in Conflicts of Interpretive Power", completed in April 2025 at the University of Rostock as part of the DFG Research Training Group "Interpretive Power."
- Education: Protestant theology at Halle/Saale, Beirut (Lebanon), Marburg, and Leipzig; Ph.D. in religious studies (University of Rostock, 2025).
- Current Role: Academic coordinator for the DFG Research Group "Alternative Rationalities and Esoteric Practices from a Global Perspective" at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Her research focuses on the intersection of theologies with political contexts, particularly how New Right ideologies influence theological arguments in Germany and Austria. She will lead courses such as "Theologies in the Political" (analyzing post-fundamentalism) and "Global Theologies" (exploring African, Asian, and Latin American perspectives). Beyond academia, she contributes to religious politics through interreligious dialogue programs and podcast production.
