Martin Önnerfors is a postdoctoral researcher affiliated with the Stockholm University Demography Unit (SUDA) at Stockholm University and the Institute for Housing and Urban Research (IBF) at Uppsala University. His primary research focuses on urban demography, public investments, and residential segregation. He is currently involved in two key projects: analyzing socio-economic segregation in Swedish cities from 1880–2017 and studying demographic outcomes in 19th- and early 20th-century Stockholm using historical records from the Roteman archives.
His work explores how transportation technology, urban planning, and policy interventions shape neighborhood dynamics and individual outcomes. Önnerfors contributes to the interdisciplinary environment at SUDA, which offers Master’s and PhD programs in demography. His research bridges historical and contemporary urban studies, emphasizing long-term demographic trends and their socio-economic implications.
He is based at the Department of Sociology at Stockholm University, with a visiting address at Universitetsvägen 10 B. His affiliations include SUDA and IBF, reflecting his engagement with both academic and applied research in urban and demographic studies.
