معرفی
Martin Zuschin is a Professor and Head of the Department of Palaeontology at the University of Vienna. His research focuses on conservation palaeobiology, historical ecology, and marine ecosystems. He investigates long-term ecological changes using fossil records and sedimentary archives to inform modern conservation efforts.
His key research areas include predator-prey dynamics, anthropogenic impacts on marine ecosystems, invasive species, and reef system evolution. Zuschin's fieldwork spans the Adriatic Sea, Red Sea, and Mediterranean, using stratigraphic and taphonomic methods to reconstruct ecological baselines.
Recent publications examine human-driven disruptions in marine food webs, non-indigenous species in the Mediterranean, and millennial-scale changes in deep-sea communities. His work integrates paleontological data with contemporary conservation challenges.
Zuschin teaches courses in paleoecology, paleobiogeography, and field methods. He leads research expeditions and collaborates with marine conservation initiatives to apply paleontological insights to modern ecosystem management.
