معرفی
Brian Beck is a Researcher affiliated with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies at James Cook University. He holds a PhD in coral ecology/paleoecology from the University of Queensland, supervised by Dr. John Pandolfi. His current role is Coral Reef Ecologist for the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation and he is part of NOAA's Coral Reef Conservation Program. His expertise focuses on coral reef resilience, ecosystem dynamics, and climate change impacts on marine systems.
Education:
- BSc and MSc in Geology and Paleontology (Nebraska and Iowa)
- PhD in Coral Ecology/Paleoecology (University of Queensland, 2011)
Research Interests: Brian investigates coral reef accretion, cyclone frequency, and reef resilience mechanisms. He explores multi-scale ecosystem dynamics, linking coral reef health to human well-being and climate adaptation strategies. His work integrates paleoecological records with modern ecological observations to predict future reef responses to environmental changes.
Affiliations: Brian contributes to the ARC Centre's research on coral reef systems and collaborates with international organizations like NOAA and the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation. His interdisciplinary approach bridges geology, marine biology, and conservation science.
