معرفی
Prof. Martin Witte is an Associate Professor in Chemical Biology at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering. He leads the Witte Group focused on developing Chemical Biology tools to study posttranslational modifications and enzyme activities. His work integrates organic synthesis, enzymology, and biochemistry to create activity-based probes and protein labeling techniques.
Education: PhD from Leiden University (2009), postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute (2010–2013). Joined the Stratingh Institute in 2013.
Research emphasizes non-template encoded biomolecules, particularly sulfatases, sulfotransferases, and phospholipid enzymes. Techniques include ABPP for enzyme profiling and sortase A-mediated protein labeling. Recent work addresses chemokine signaling and glycosaminoglycan metabolism.
- Publications focus on glycoside chemistry, probe development, and catalytic oxidation methods
- Collaborates internationally in enzyme mechanism studies
Serves as Treasurer of the H.J. Backer Foundation and Section Editor for Molecules.
