Dr. Martin Toye is a Lecturer in Education, Teaching & Leadership at the University of Edinburgh's Moray House School of Education and Sport. He holds positions in the Institute for Education, Teaching & Leadership (IETL) and contributes to initiatives such as the National Children's Panel (as former Chair) and various public appointments with Scottish government bodies. His research focuses on inclusive education, developmental psychology, cognitive development, and child protection, with a particular interest in ADHD and ASD.
Dr. Toye’s educational background includes a first-class psychology degree, PGDE, MEd, and a PhD in developmental psychology from the University of Strathclyde. His work bridges academic and clinical realms, including studies on stimulant medication effects in ADHD and teacher attitudes toward inclusion. He collaborates with institutions like the University of Glasgow and NHS Health Boards, and currently leads projects investigating referral pathways for children with developmental disorders.
His research interests emphasize STEM education, computational thinking, and the intersection of cognitive functions with pedestrian safety in children. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in inclusive education, child protection, and social justice, supervising PhD students in these areas.
