Martin Schwarz

Martin Schwarz is a Research Fellow and Postdoc Assistant at the Department of Art History within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Basel since 2020. He specializes in European art and architecture from the 12th to 14th centuries, medieval arts of the book, urbanism, and the intersection of scholastic philosophy and theology with visual culture.

• Education: MA in Art History (University of Vienna, 2009), PhD in Art History (University of Chicago, 2020), and Medieval Latin Certificate (University of Toronto, 2012)
• Research Interests: Medieval urbanism, 3D-modelling, photogrammetry, and the cultural history of Scholasticism

• Fellow at Max-Planck-Institut Kunsthistorisches Institut, Florence (2019)
