Dr Martin Schmeding is an internationally acclaimed organ professor at the Royal College of Music (RCM) London since 2024. He previously held the Chair of Artistic Organ Playing at the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig (2015–present) and served as Visiting Guest Professor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (2018). His career bridges performance, pedagogy, and scholarship, rooted in German and French organ traditions.

Schmeding’s research and performance focus on historical organ repertoire and pedagogical innovation. His students hold prominent positions globally.
Notable awards include the Echo Classic (2009), Professor of the Year (2017), and three consecutive Prizes of the German Record Critics (2009, 2017, 2020). He actively participates as a juror in international competitions and contributes to music editions for publishers like Schott and Carus.
