Mengjie Zhang

Mengjie Zhang is a Research Assistant at the European Center for Jewish Music, Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media, working on the project "Musical-Dramaturgical Compositions from the Estate of Peter Ury" since March 2025. Her research is part of the broader initiative "Counter-hegemonic Voices in Music Archives: Political Readings, Contextualizations, Contemporary References".

Research Focus: Intersections of gender studies, European music history, feminist theories, historiography, and cross-cultural reception of Chinese and Jewish music in Europe. Her work emphasizes political contextualization of archival materials.
