معرفی
Martin S Taylor is an Assistant Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Brown University. He is affiliated with the Legorreta Cancer Center and the Center on the Biology of Aging, focusing on leveraging LINE-1 (L1) transposon biology for cancer early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment. His research intersects molecular pathology, pharmacology, and aging-related disease mechanisms.
- Education:
- MD, Johns Hopkins University (2015)
- PhD, Johns Hopkins University (2015)
- BSE, Princeton University (2005, Magna Cum Laude)
Research Interests: Taylor’s work centers on the molecular understanding of L1 transposons and their role in cancer and diseases of aging. His studies on L1:host interactions, including the discovery of cytosolic reverse transcriptase (RT) activity, reveal mechanisms linking L1 to sterile inflammation and viral mimicry. He also investigates mTORC2-Akt signaling, building diagnostic and therapeutic frameworks from bench discoveries.
Scientific Awards:
- 2024 Maverick Award (SU2C)
- 2024 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Finalist
- 2023 GI Cancer SPORE Developmental Project Award
- 2018-2021 NIH T32 Fellowship
- 2005 NIH Medical Scientist Training Program Award
Grants & Collaborations: Taylor’s research is supported by NIH grants (K08, T32) and collaborations with experts in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cancer research, including Nicolas Fawzi, John Sedivy, and Gerwald Jogl. His clinical training in gastrointestinal pathology complements his scientific work, enabling translational studies.
