Dr Martin Richard Lindley is a Professor in the School of Health Sciences at UNSW Sydney, affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health. His expertise spans over 30 years in translational science, focusing on the intersection of nutrition, exercise physiology, and respiratory health. He leads research in epigenetics, inflammatory mechanisms, and the application of biochemical insights to clinical and athletic populations. Key roles include Trustee of the Biochemical Society and leadership in research ethics committees, demonstrating his commitment to academic governance and ethical research practices.
Research interests include the impact of nutritional interventions (e.g., fish oils, omega-3 fatty acids) on inflammation and respiratory conditions such as COPD and asthma. He has pioneered studies on exhaled breath volatile analysis and the epigenetic effects of exercise, particularly in skeletal muscle and immune function. Lindley’s work bridges laboratory findings with real-world applications for athletes and patient populations.
Publications emphasize respiratory physiology, metabolic pathways, and the development of biomarkers for chronic diseases. He has contributed to over 70 journal articles, 6 book chapters, and international conference presentations. His collaborative efforts extend to institutions globally, reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to solving health challenges.
