Martin Papillon is a Full Professor at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Arts and Science, Université de Montréal. His academic career focuses on Indigenous rights, federalism, multiculturalism, and natural resource governance in Canada. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and directs the CPDS (Centre de recherche sur les politiques et le développement social).
- Research Themes: Indigenous-state relations, treaty implementation, FPIC (Free, Prior, and Informed Consent), Arctic governance, postcolonial citizenship, and multinational federalism.
- Advising Highlights: Supervised 8 master's theses and 1 Ph.D. dissertation between 2016–2024, focusing on Indigenous participation in Canadian democracy, Quebec-Autochtones relations, and impact assessment processes.
