Professor Martin McCracken is Research Director for Business & Management at Ulster University’s Business School, holding a Professorial appointment in the Department of Management, Leadership & Marketing. He previously served as Senior Lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University and Memorial University of Newfoundland. His expertise spans Strategic Human Resource Development, Learning Transfer, and Public Sector Organizational Change. Current leadership includes a 4-year longitudinal study on leadership development in UK Higher Education (funded by the Leadership Foundation for HE) and British Academy-funded research on alliance contracting in the Voluntary Sector.
Holds editorial leadership roles as Editor-in-Chief of Education and Training, Associate Editor of Leadership and Organisational Development Journal, and sits on editorial boards for European Journal of Training and Development, Employee Relations, and Evidence-Based HRM. Research focuses on HR business partnering paradoxes, non-profit organizational dynamics, and human capital reporting practices. Publications include 25 peer-reviewed articles across HRD, organizational strategy, and public sector management.
Teaching specialties include Leadership/Change Management and Research Methodology. Notable projects include Department for Education-funded studies, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development collaborations, and EU Leonardo Da Vinci initiatives.
