Martin Juneau is a Clinical Professor at the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medicine. He holds key roles at the Montreal Heart Institute (MHI), including Chief of the Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Service (ÉPIC Center) since 1988 and former Chief of the Department of Medicine and Cardiology (1994–1998). He completed a master's in clinical psychology at Université de Montréal, medical studies at Université de Sherbrooke, and a cardiology residency at Université de Montréal, followed by a research fellowship at Stanford University.
He has led initiatives such as Director of Professional Services at MHI (2000–2004) and served as Governor for the American College of Cardiology in Quebec (2000–2005). His research focuses on cardiovascular health, obesity prevention, and the pathophysiology of heat-related risks. He chairs the Quebec Tertiary Cardiology Network’s secondary prevention group and the Scientific Committee of Kino-Québec. He is a member of the Scientific Committee on Obesity Prevention.
His grants include IRSC funding for heat-related cardiovascular risk research (2022–2027) and multiple MHI Foundation grants. He has supervised six doctoral and master's students. Awards include the Médecins francophones du Canada Merit Award.
Affiliated with the Institut de cardiologie de Montréal’s research center, his work bridges clinical practice, prevention, and policy, emphasizing public health initiatives and environmental impacts on cardiac health.
