Dr. Martin Fislake is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Koblenz, affiliated with the Department of Economics (Fachbereich 4). His primary role includes specialist advisory services in Technical Sciences within the department. He holds multiple administrative roles, including membership on the Library Committee, the Department Council, and the University-wide representation of academic staff. He also serves as the Safety Officer (SiB) within Fachbereich 4.
His research focuses on educational robotics, technology education, and STEM promotion in early childhood and primary education. Key areas include the design of low-cost robotics tools like Brushbots, the evaluation of long-term construction kit projects in schools, and the integration of drones and robotics into coding and problem-solving curricula. He has pioneered initiatives such as the ‘technikcamps’ summer program in Germany and adapted similar projects for international contexts like Rwanda.
His publications highlight trends in child-robot interaction, the transition from construction kits to advanced robotics education, and strategies to attract young engineers. Recent work emphasizes ethical considerations in educational technology, cost-effective solutions for schools, and interdisciplinary approaches blending coding with engineering principles.
Fislake actively contributes to academic governance through his involvement in departmental and university committees. His work bridges theoretical research with practical educational implementation, aiming to foster technological literacy and career pathways in STEM from an early age.
